Privacy and Legal Mentions

Copyright Business for New Europe 2015. All rights reserved.

At Business for New Europe we are committed to protecting your privacy and processing your personal information in accordance with UK data protection law.

This policy explains how the information we collect about you is used and kept securely. It also explains your privacy choices when using the Business for New Europe website as well as your right to access your information.

What information do we collect?

We may collect, store and use two kinds of information about you, which we refer to as "behavioural" and "relationship" information:

  • Behavioural information is information about your visit to and actions on this website, and includes your Internet Provider (IP) address, length of visit and number of page views. Some of this information is essential for the website to work correctly. It also allows us to improve the performance and functionality of the site.
  • Relationship information is the information you provide to us in order to participate in the campaign, and includes your name, address and email address and other information such as information about donations that you might make.

How will we use your information?

We will use your relationship information to keep you up to date with our campaign, in particular to offer opportunities to engage with our activities. You may opt out from receiving such information at any time (see Controlling your information, below).

We may disclose your behavioural and relationship information to:

  • Other pro-European organisations with whom we have a strategic relationship and also campaign to stay in the European Union so that, with your consent, they can send you updates about their activities and invite you to their events; service providers hosting or maintaining the site or providing other services to us.

These disclosures are always made on strict terms of confidentiality and security.

Otherwise, we will not disclose your information except to government agencies for law enforcement, national security or other similar purposes, or to other persons to whom we may be obliged by law to disclose your information.

Your personal details will never be published on the site except with your agreement.

Your credit card information

If you use your credit card to donate to us, we pass your credit card details securely to our payment processing partner as part of the payment process. We do this in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Security Standard (PDF download), and don’t store the details on our website.

Use of cookies and how to disable

Cookies are small files, typically of letters and numbers, downloaded on to a device when you access certain websites or emails. Cookies allow a website to recognise your device. Cookies allow us to make the website easier to use, to provide you with a more personalised experience and to guard against malicious activities. You can remove or block cookies by changing the settings in your browser, but the functionality of the website may be affected.

There are two broad categories of cookie, "session" and "persistent" cookies:

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari etc.). They keep track of your visit to the site but do not remember you if you return.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your computer until they expire. This can be a fixed time after you have visited the website (e.g. one year) or a particular date (e.g. 31 December 2015). These cookies are used to remember information between visits to a website.

Our site uses both session and persistent cookies.
